Privacy Policy
Effective June 11, 2026 · Giv'er (ridegiver.app)
This Privacy Policy explains how Giv'er ("Giv'er", "we", "us") collects, uses, and protects your personal information when you use our rides and errands service in Nova Scotia, Canada. We handle personal information in accordance with Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).
1. Information we collect
- Account information — your name, mobile phone number, and (optionally) email address.
- Location — pickup and drop-off addresses, and, while you are using the app for an active job, your device location, so we can match and complete trips.
- Trip and errand details — the jobs you post or accept, fares offered and agreed, and messages exchanged to complete a job.
- Payment method preference — whether a job is to be paid by cash or e-transfer. Giv'er does not process card payments and does not handle payments between customers and drivers; any payment is arranged directly between the two parties.
- Driver verification documents — if you sign up as a driver, your driver's licence (Class 4 where applicable), proof of insurance, vehicle details, and e-transfer details.
- Photos — a profile photo and any receipt or payment-proof images you choose to upload for a job.
- Device and usage information — device type and basic technical data needed to deliver the app and notifications.
2. How we use your information
- To create and manage your account and verify drivers.
- To match customers and drivers and complete rides and errands.
- To send you a one-time verification code and service messages by SMS, and (if you opt in) launch and account notifications.
- To support safety, prevent fraud and abuse, and resolve disputes.
- To operate, maintain, and improve the service.
3. SMS / text messaging
We use your mobile number to send a verification code and messages needed to operate the service. If you opt in, we may also send launch and account alerts. Message and data rates may apply. You can opt out of non-essential messages at any time by replying STOP or contacting us.
4. When we share information
- With the other party to a job — to complete a ride or errand, a customer and the assigned driver see the information needed to coordinate (e.g., first name, photo, pickup/drop-off, and contact as needed).
- Service providers — we use trusted providers to operate the service, such as Twilio (SMS) and our hosting provider. They may process information only to provide services to us.
- Legal — where required by law, or to protect the safety, rights, or property of users or the public.
We do not sell your personal information.
5. Retention
We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes above or as required by law, after which it is deleted or de-identified. You may ask us to delete your account.
6. Your rights
Under PIPEDA you may request access to the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or withdraw your consent (subject to legal or contractual limits). To make a request, contact us using the details below.
7. Security
We use reasonable safeguards to protect personal information, including access controls and transport encryption (HTTPS). Uploaded documents and images are stored privately and require authentication to access. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information.
8. Age
Giv'er is intended for adults. You must be of the age of majority in Nova Scotia (19) to use the service.
